If you need any help posting pictures on the Photo Album, ask it here.

First off, I will try my best to approve the pictures in a timely manner.

If the picture is lacking dates or names, I will delete it.

If the picture is too large, I will delete it.

------------------
1. The file sizes should be less < 300k a picture. If you need help resizing them, please ask on THIS forum.

2. Please make sure you post your file to the correct county. If you accidentally assign it to the wrong county, please ask me to correct it here.

3. Please put the date you harvested the deer in the TITLE, when you upload. Please use the followign format:

YYYY-MM-DD.

Example, a deer harvested Nov 20, 2004 would have the title 2004-11-20. This enables me to sort the photoalbum by date of harvest.

4. In the description box, provide information about the hunt when you harvested the deer.

Step by step INSTRUCTIONS for uploading Pics

Postby gtk » Mon Oct 31, 2005 1:56 pm

If you are having any kind of trouble, check to see how big the file is your trying to upload. The smaller the file, the quicker/easier it is to upload. I suggest resizing your picture to 640x480 and making sure its not larger than 100K in size. The server will NOT allow you to upload files larger than 1 Megabyte.

If you follow all the instructions, and still cannot get the file uploaded, send it to me in email with the information below. I will upload it for you.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure you have logged out before uploading ...

1) From the main page at MSDEER, choose "PhotoAlbum" from the Menu at the left.

2) At the VERY top of the PhotAlbum page, there is a "Upload File" tab. Click on it.

3) Choose from the Album drop down list box the correct County or Album you want the picture uploaded too.

4) Click the "browse" button on the next line, and choose your file on your computer that you wish to upload.

5) In the "File Title", put the date the deer was harvested ( 2005-10-25)

6) In the "File Description", tell us a little information about the hunt.

7) In the "Keywords", you can put information that will allow searching. (name, weapon, hutning club, just any information you'd like)

8.) In the Hunter Column, tell us your name/nickname

9) Weapon, Bow, .270, Muzzleloader, Car, Truck, etc....

Resizing Pics
---------------
For Windows XP users.
1. Open you picture with microsoft photo editor
2. Click on "Image"
3. Under "Image", click on "Resize"
4. Make sure "Allow Distortion" is not checked, and make sure "Smooth" is checked.
5. change the width to 760. It will automatically change the height.
6. Click on "File" and then choose "Save As"
7. When the "Save As" dialog box opens, click on "More"
8. If your file is NOT a "jpg" filetype, type in a new filename, choose JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg,*.jpeg)
9. Change your JPEG Quality factor to 50 or 60.

That should reduce the filesize enough to upload, but still maintain image quality.

The instructions should also be similiar for other software/ operating systems.

Here is a free image resizer a lot of people like.

Click this link for a free image "resizer" from Microsoft.

Free Microsoft Image Resizer

This is a handy image resizer that allows you to just "right click" on your picture and choose "resize". Click on the link above, and install the software (just follow simple instructions).

Once the software is installed, all you have to do is:
1) Go to the folder in which your picture you want resized, is located.
2) Right click on the picture, and you should now have the "resize pictures" option.

Image

3) Click the "resize pictures" , select the 640x480, and then "Ok"

Image

That's it ! You should now have a new picture that is resized. It will create a new picture with the same name + (Small) on the end.
