Stator for 94 Mariner/Merc 4 cyl 2 Stroke

Postby hubtech » Tue May 27, 2014 5:27 am

Mine's shot, tested way out of spec with the volt meter, so i'm checking to see if y'all might have one. Should meet these specs:
Fits: 40 HP 4cyl Mercury/Mariner 1991-97 models with Serial # OD055048 thru OG589999

Thanks all,

new switchbox is now on the way after running some more tests with a DVA adapter. Tungsten Marine in Kenner LA was super helpful and has killer pricing. Check em http://shop.tungstenmarine.com

Also used the troubleshooting guide on CDI's website, it was very helpful as well.

for the most part yes!!! cranks right up, idles like a champ. when giving throttle it sometimes stutters for a while between 2500-3K, but something frees up and it screams up to redline just fine. Tested the Rectifier, and it's good so i'm thinking fuel filter or low speed setting. Issue only happens under load, if testing out of water with ear-muffs, no prob. I'm going to swap out the OEM (100000 year old) fuel filter to try it out, and then i'll tinker with the carbs. My generation doesn't know much about carbs ;)

Tell ya what, this may not be the fastest boat on the water, but it gets on around 27-30mph,

Sound like you about to get it worked out.....27 to 30 mph, fishing is suppose to be slow you can't catch fish going that fast.

try seafoam first ....mix it ..run it till your sure its made its way to carbs then let it sit for a few hundred thousand hours ...while sitting it cleans, then go run it .......sometimes seafoam can fix carb problems which allows u to not take carbs apart

Very good idea with the foam SDK , after stripping them carbs you're in for a very delicate balancing act to get them all in sync again . Not a job for the average home mechanic.

Sea foam makes a spray too. I like B-12 better. It comes as a tank additive or cleaner spray.

Never used the B-12 but had several people say that they like it.
