QSMA Squirrel, Sasquatch, and Ivory Billed Woodpeck Hunts

Postby Bullie » Thu Dec 01, 2016 12:19 pm

I have scheduled the hunts for this year. Dec 9-11, Dec 16-18, Dec 30-Jan 1, and January 13-16. If you wanna make one of the trips or have any questions let me know. Lots of fun. You don't need a dog. Kid friendly hunts.
One of the MSDEER family has already said he plans to make a hunt.

Sure. I think we usually do that in February though. After y'all get done with all your wood goat chasing.

That will be even better. Pretty much all of January is open except for MLK weekend.

Well, I told the truth. I can't vouch for the truthfulness of the stories those other folks told. I wasn't completely convinced that all those folks were as honest as myself.

That's a scary thought! How could a squirrel hunter not be honest?

Headed back to the Arkansas Hilton in the morning. BigSteve is going over with us this time. I hope we can scratch up a squirrel or two for him to shoot at. Even if the hunting is bad we still generally have a good time. Steve is gonna bring over a few of those fresh crappie fillets. I bet we eat good. :ylsuper:

Steve went for a ride in my cousin's new Polaris. I don't know if it was heavier on his side or what but it sure did lean over that way.

My cousin had to help them out of that little mud hole.

Same cousin helping his daddy across a deep spot.

Steve brought over a portable kitchen and set up production. Not only can he catch the fire out of crappie, he can cook them up too. He fed the whole camp and my cousins from down the lake in no time. He's a great guy and we sure enjoyed him being there.

But, we did have one little problem. Steve was telling me about how he could take a squirrel out from 75 yards, no problem, with his bull barreled 10/22. We didn't realize it for some time but we were getting Steve way too close. His average shot was about 20 yards and I had to use my trusty old pistol to get a few of the squirrels he was missing with the 10/22. If we had backed off another 50 yards or so I am sure he would been one shot/one kill the whole trip. His hit to miss ratio really suffered due to my silly old dog getting him too close. I will know better next time.

Well as a guest I really didn't want to show out too much and I have to give my host the credit for John Wayne shots with the pistol I did back off one time and put a head shot on a trophy fox squirrel some of the ones I missed were too young and I could see they needed another year or two to mature

Either way, sounds like yall had a great time. Nothing like being in the woods with a great bunch of folks who enjoy the same passion for the outdoors.

I've always believed in going on hunting adventures. Those are the ones you remember and always talk about. Having been with Bullie before and seeing the pictures it's pretty obvious this one was an adventure. I'm glad y'all had a good time and wish I could have been there. Maybe one day I'll be able to make another one.

Steve and me with pretty massive nibbling post we found over in Arkansas. Steve is still new at the trophy squirrel hunting game but he is catching on fast. He is a natural at reading Trophy Buck Squirrel sign.

Really nice sitting log in one of the other pictures. Really nice. It allowed us to take advantage of the sun's warmth without being blinded by the light. Sitting log locating is a dying art I am afraid.

Glenn, you need to make a hunt! The Arkansas hunts have the advantage of being flat land...and lots of squirrels.
