Cold weather

Postby sdw » Thu Dec 08, 2016 12:33 pm

I know everyone gets tired of hearing "make sure there's antifreeze in your car" and "bring your pets inside" but I wanted to give a different heads up for cold weather. Be aware of the potential for carbon monoxide poisoning. Aside from the obvious things like don't use a generator indoors and make sure gas appliances are vented correctly, if you have a garage make sure that you don't leave a car idling inside the garage. I lost 3 family members to carbon monoxide poisoning in 2010. If you don't have a carbon monoxide detector in your home, I would highly recommend investing in one. You can get a carbon monoxide detector just about anywhere you can get a smoke detector. It's a cheap investment to help prevent a tragedy. Y'all stay warm and be safe!

Thanks for the advice.
My home generator is outside, I have one vent-less propane heater. If the power goes out we will be OK.
I am so sorry for your loss, and I do thank you for posting this great advice...
