My actual first day of retirement

Postby jbullard1 » Tue Jan 03, 2017 3:17 pm

Well today is my first official day of being retired. I did not have to punch a clock this morning but I was up at 5:45. My wife went with me to spend time with me on my first day of Retirement. We pulled nails and prepped a room to hang new drywall, went to the bldg supply and picked up some lumber/supplies, then framed in an air intake for a heating/cooling system. THEN on my first day of RETIREMENT WE sawed, sanded and prime painted trimwork. She swept floors and cleaned up after me, this was all before dinner. Now on my FIRST OFFICIAL DAY OF RETIREMENT!!! I am planning what we will work on in the morning....... All on my FIRST OFFICIAL DAY OF RETIREMENT
I sure am happy I am retired

HAPPY RETIREMENT TO ME :W: :W: :W: :W: :W:

Like I read the other day, sound more like a job change than retirement

And it does not sound like an advancement. Or even a lateral move.

Anyone who wants to undertake home improvement as a second career, needs to have their head examined. Working on projects at home and doing it for a living is totally two different things.
If you screw up at home, no harm done. Screw up on a customers home or business, and you can loose a lot of money fast. Even find yourself in a court room.
Under estimate a project and you will find that very few people feel sorry for you.
Over the years, I have worked as many as 30 employees with multiple projects going at a time. And yes I made money, but I also lost. Our employees had one boss to answer to. But we had several at a time. Every customer was our boss, and most of them thought they were more important than the other.
I don't miss it one bit. And now enjoy being able to be selective in whom I do work for.

I bet you're ready for a vacation from your retirement . Seriously, I really enjoy working hard at home, especially alongside my husband.
