Whatever you want to discuss

New addition to the family.

Well it's been a couple years since I put my lab down. I been missing having a hunting companion. So today I drove to Lake Charles to pick up our new family member. She will be trained in obedience, duck hunting and blood trailing. I would like to introduce to y'all

Chunkz ummm.... Pearl.

New addition to the family.

Yeah they need plenty attention. Going from a senior lab to a puppy is a big adjustment. I've had mine for 3 days and it looks like someone flipped a light switch. Pearl is fitting in good and on track with how we want our dog socialized. First night last night, NO CRYING...whooohooo!

Well Pearl is 10 weeks old and fitting in good. Foundation is being set. She rides with me on Atv, lawnmower and took her in the boat on the river today. We also played on the sandbar. ImageImageImage

Great pictures but be extra careful on the mower, she could jump off in front if it.

Yeah I thought of that. Actually she sat between my legs until I stopped so the wife could take a pic.

Beautiful pup you've got there. Mine is 2 and he's a handful but wouldn't trade him for the world. ImageImage

Good looking family member you have. After having labs for 35 years and training them to fetch ducks and blood trail, I've found females suit me best. I much rather have a fully trained male but it takes me 4 years to get to the point I like where as a female I'm usually at that point by the second season. Only negatives w females is when in heat, especially during hunting seasons... worse than my wife as far as listening lol. Don't tell the wife I said that!

Update on Pearl. She's doing good. Fetching like a champ, rides on the Atv, pirogue, flat boat, truck and lawn mower.... if I could just get her to steer the zero turn lol.

Working on obedience and heeling. Shot pellet gun and 22 around her so far so it's all good. She has also been fetching a frozen teal. Only thing left to introduce is blood for trailing. ImageImageImage

New addition to the family.

Update. Pearl has been improving as fast as she has been growing. Fixing to turn 5 months old.

Hunter my son, missed a doe this morning. Another guy killed one so I cut some hide off and made 3 short tracks. She did great.

This evening I killed a doe and ran back to the camp to get pearl. Back at the kill shot pearl started working the blood trail for about 80 yards where the deer laid. I couldn't be happier. ImageImage
