Yep, what it sounds like. More specifically too much N . I learned this by planting some maters too close (under the drip line ) of my walnut tree. All others did great as far as production and the few under the tree climbed out of the cages but barely produced any maters. Walnut is a N fixating tree.

Left over from last year I guess. I put a little flower fertilizer on them but nothing else.

We failed on tomatoes this year. There's a blight in our area. According to the county agent its from all the rain and the nights being to cool. We pulled them all out and burned them.

My tomatoes are just now putting on a few blooms. Guess I will have some really late tomatoes again.

What variety of tomatoes do you plant?

big boy, better boy, some heirloom variety I cannot remember, and a yellow mater. Maybe a beefsteak... varieties that should definitely be producing well by now. Not enough sun and too much fertilizer I guess. But I generally have lots of tomatoes when we get our first frost.
