Excluding the .270, what do you believe to be the worst deer cartridge out there?

Lol, the old .270 isn't the worst. I'd throw my vote for .243 from past experiences and lost deer.

the .270 is worst, but only when in the hands of inexperienced squirrel hunters ..

True enough. An inexperienced squirrel hunter should not be trying any "trick shooting" like using a .270 on something as tough as a squirrel. The inexperienced should use a shotgun or maybe a very accurate .22 LR. The .270 is definitely reserved for the professional hunters that know exactly what a quality gun is, and where to place the superior bullets that have made this extremely versatile cartridge what it is today.

I don't mind giving the .270 it's due . In the right hands, it makes one of the best all around cartridges in the world

I shoot a .270wsm and I've never lost a deer with it. Honestly love that gun. Killed several with a .270 growing up. I'd say a .223 is the worst

.223 is my deer gun of choice and I've had no problems with lost deer. I don't do body shots I only do head and neck. I don't shoot long range about 200 yards or less is my comfort zone. If you've got a gun that will group 1/2" or less at 100yards and you shoot often it's not a problem.

I have yet to meet a caliber I didnt like for deer, some better than others. Now as far as guns themselves, that is another story.

So, excluding GTK, I can see we all agree with the obvious expert on this type of thing and therefore have concluded that most every caliber is good for deer except for .270. It's pretty much unannymouse.
