Gout

Postby Bullie » Mon Aug 07, 2017 4:19 pm

Having my first experience with gout in the big toe. It is every bit as bad as people describe it. The meds I was given today have not eased the pain even a little. Been a loooooong day.

If you can make it until morning, you only be about 3 days out from relief! Seriously, it normally takes me 12 to 24 hours to get much relief. Then it gradually eases up.

When I had kidney failure 28 years ago, they decided I had gout in my kidneys instead of my feet. The doctors described it as being like thousand of slivers of glass floating around in my kidneys cutting them to pieces. 46 days later I got out of the hospital.

My dad has always said that every man should have one kidney stone, a case of the gout, and be married one time. He says that will make him appreciate how his life was before the real trouble sets in.

The pain and nausea from the meds woke me up about 2:45 this morning. I don't think it is hurting as bad as it did yesterday but it is a far cry from good. Gout isn't nearly as bad as a kidney stone but it will hobble you right up.

It definitely sucks. Probably gonna have to change your diet and take allopurinol every day and that should help

The worst part. I don't want or need to be home today.

try eating a handful of cherries each day and take tumeric curcumin pills. You can find them at Walmart.

I have been taking allpurinol for years because of gout problems with my ankles. Over the past two months I've had problems with it in the middle toes of my left foot. Two weeks ago I started eating 8-10 cherries and taking a tumeric curcumin pill in the morning and in the evening and it has gone away. I got this info from my dad who was having the same problem. He now swears by it and he's not one to believe in hocus-pocus home remedies.

I believe in the turmeric curcumin also. It's a natural anti inflammatory. I got mine at Sam's.

Guess what folks. It only gets worse with age. I have not yet had gout, but back and joint issues seem to never end . Got two CT scans scheduled on the 21st, just to tell me what I already know . Some people age well, and then there are those of us. Who are not so lucky.
Hope you get relief soon, I have known many who suffered the pain.

I have a buddy that has flair ups of the gout. Many times he has had to cancel hunts over the years because of it. Good luck bud. Hope you feel better soon.

Hope it is not early in the afternoon? When the solar eclipse starts there is not going to be much work done on that day. Most everyone who is still left in Mississippi is going to be outside looking at the sun. :2TU:

Didn't think of that. May need to reschedule.
