'Twas the week before Christmas and all through the trees,
Not a creature was stirring, not even the breeze.
When what to my wondering ears did I hear.....
Was it what I was hunting?
No, not a deer.
A tiny mosquito had lit on my cheek.
Do I give him a swat and risk being seen?
Or do I stay still and endure his great pain?
To do so, I think, would be completely insane.
So I wriggled my face to thwart his mean bite.
But, alas, in rapidly fading day's light,
I threw up my hand to halt his attack.
Then I left the dark woods saying "Soon I'll be back."

HUNTING IS NOT A SPORT, IT'S A WAY OF LIFE

I saw you slipping to the woods, and even back,
but you never saw me standing there in the cover with my HUGE rack.
In the year of last, you killed my grandson and caused family strife,
though the truth be told, he got my horns, but the brains of my wife.
You came back,
and killed his friend jack,
But neither was he the brightest bulb in the pack.
See, unlike you humans sitting up in the sky,
I also see through my nose, not only my eye.
You may have the deed and own these premises,
but you will never kill me, your arch nemesis.

Flipper, I had to mess with you a little bit. I just know I would not want you hunting me.
