Snow goose trip

Postby chadbragg » Sat Feb 17, 2018 3:40 pm

This week i took jr on a snow hunt in Cash, AR. I can say it was an amazing sight and hunt. The guide located a field that had 20k+ birds in it Wednesday. We setup in the dark thursday morning and when day broke it was crazyyyyy! The sky was literally full of birds. We killed 91 in a few hrs! Had a great guide and dog! ImageImageImageImage

Looks like a great hunt. Any info on the place you booked? Lodging, cost, minimum hunters in blind.

Used Hunters Paradise guide service in Cash, AR. $200 per gun with lodging. The lodge is a nice 3 bedroom brick house with 6 beds. We hunted a feed on a dry wheat field. It was just me and my son so we tagged along with another guide and small group. Hunters number is (870) 897-9377‬, young kid but has some awesome land and lots of knowledge.

Fun to shoot especially when there's no limit and led shot is legal as far as eating haven't found that good recipe yet haven't hunted them in few years but when I did I have them to the mexicans

Terry i grind them with beef fat and bacon. Makes some good burgers. Also cut in strips soak in a 50/50 apple juice and dales, then wrap in bacon and grill.

Looks like a good trip. Any bands ? I have never decoyed them but have killed thousands sneaking them. Can be hard work for a dog. They make great coyote and bobcat bait.

Lead shot is not legal for any waterfowl. Some GWs overlook it during conservation season but some do not

It has not been allowed to hunt any waterfowl since 1991 in any state regardless of season. Federal law. There were a lot, including myself, who thought it was legal during the first years but I found out the hard way from the feds. I remember it like it was yesterday when he told me that I didnt need #4 buckshot to kill geese and my response was "oh yes I do at 80 to 100 yds ;) . Many GWs did not enforce it but it was law.

No bands. The group the day before us got one, the bird was missing part of his bottom jaw. Apparently he had been rehabilitated.

I didn't think lead was legal but wasnt sure.
