Freezer cleanout

Postby jbullard1 » Sun Apr 21, 2019 11:43 am

As we get ready for the upcoming garden produce I had to clean out the freezer.
I have a lot of friends that love Cowboy Candy and I has a gallon each of Jalepeño and a gallon of Serrano peppers frozen
I sliced the jalapeños and ground the serranos to make a relish type pepper to mix with cream cheese as a dip or serve on crackers.
If you like some heat it is great.
Yes I reuse old commercial jars to can in, as long as they seal they are good.
Now to thaw out 3 gallons of frozen tomatoes and make a good salsa.

Yum! That cowboy candy is great with summer sausage and/or snack sticks, cheese, and crackers!
So you can reuse the original tops?

I check the lids very careful before I reuse them.
They are especially good to use if you know you will never get the jar back
