The weekend winds and heavy rains have brought down tons of acorns on my land, many attached to small leafy branches. The acorns are only about half way grown and are not mature yet. But I cracked open and tasted one of the water oak acorns and it had a "green apple" tartness and "pucker" factor to it. But the flavor should be pretty good by the time they mature in a few more weeks.

The acorns are growing fast here. And, the producing trees are loaded down. It's a very good crop here this year of acorns. Right after a storm like this past weekend is the easiest time to do an acorn survey and locate producing trees plus see what the mast crop looks like.

I don't have any persimmons on my land but I do have one Osage Orage tree. I need to go check it out to see how it is doing.

I have several Sawtooth oaks and they are loaded. Some have started dropping and the deer don't let them lay overnight.
