Hoping for a rain

Postby jbullard1 » Wed Sep 14, 2011 12:22 pm

I just planted about 1/3 acre of Chickory and about the same of Purple top, Mustard and rape.
Soil is nice and moist but I would feel better with a little rain

I went and bush hogged tried disking my "backyard" plot. The grass was just to thick. I broke it up now let it die a few days and let it do it again. We are supposed to get rain tonight. I've got my fingers crossed. I planted about 2 acres Monday with clover, mustard, turnips, rape, peas, oats, and wheat.

Saw on the news that if you did not get any, then it is all over. We got just enough to wet the wind shield for a minute. :bash: :bash:

Have yall ever had deer eat your chicory during season? I have had them tear it up late summer right up to bow season then abandon it for clover etc.
I know just enough to be dangerous.

Either your shooting from your bedroom window. Or you have one long water hose. :rotflol: :rotflol:

I planted during and right after the three day rain from Tropical Storm Lee on the 4th and 5th. That was 10-11 days ago without a drop of rain since. But everything planted in the first three sections is up and growing very well.

If you have good soil moisture at the time of planting, everything should germinate and start growing at least. We do need a follow up rain soon however.
