I use a hand cranked bag spreader and have planted my mustard and greens way TOO thick
And I just barely had the feed cracked open

For small seeds I use the hand crank bag to and I always seem to overseed on the lowest setting also but i just learned to buy more seed. For the plots I use the pull behind ATV spreader and it spreads it just right.

I asked an old old farmer today he told me to go to the monument company up town and get a bucket of their sand they use to blast the names on the stones. take 1 gallon of sand and put a cup of seed and spread away if you need to cover more area just start all over

I have a small hand held seeder $5 at tractor supply. I use it for small seeds (clover, turnips, and such). Works great.

An atv spreader or a 3 point hitch spreader. I have also used the handheld one for smaller plots..

I sow my entire plot by hand. I have a hand operated spreader but it does a poor job as everyone says. Using your bare hand gives you greater control of the spreading pattern and rate of application.

I simply pour seeds in a bucket, grab a handful, scatter in an arc pattern in front of me, and walk over them to help press them into the soil. It works quite well and costs nothing. If you want more dirt coverage, drag the area after sowing the seeds.

Yep that's the one. Can't beat it. I can take 2lbs and cover an acre if I want to!

LOL @ using your hands to sow your seed. Only thing funnier is using a "mechanical spreader" to do so!

Yall just talk bout anything, won't you?

Earthway 2750 works well for us. Including brassicas/clovers.

we tow them big aluminum hoppers behind tractors...the kind that cattle farmers use.....we could do it with a 3point hitch spreader but it would take a long time....27 foodplots is alot..                now sometimes when we plant clover or something that has tiny seeds we will definetly use a hand seader and walk

JB, your friend and I agree. I have always mixed my small seed with sand, just as my grand paw did and it always distributes evenly.
