Need suggestions

Postby jbullard1 » Sun Oct 09, 2011 10:22 am

I am going to have to replant a plot, the old seed didn't germinate.
I want to plant in strips or sections another thing is this is very wet soil in the winter.
I don't want to buy any expensive exotic blend of seed I can buy seed at the coop

I know it's generic, but I plant 90% wheat and some areas of turnips and clover. I can't justify $30+ for the mixes when it's 98% wheat.

JB, of the things I have planted this year, the deer have eaten all of them pretty well. They seem to like the Elbon Rye a lot, but are also eating the Winter Wheat, Austrian Winter Peas, and Bob Oats. The seeds are very cheap at the co-op and the deer will eat any of them.

The Bob Oats are the least cold tolerant and will be killed by frost sooner than the others. Not sure which ones tolerate wet soil the best.

I like to plant Winter Wheat, Marshall Ryegrass, Bob Oats . The Marshall will grow on concrete with water!!! I also bought me 50 lbs Crimson clover for $40 and mixed in with this. ;)
Thank God for each and every opportunity that You have to take a kid hunting and set an example.
