I can not remember the last time....

I can not remember the last time I bought any corn or feed.
I guess if I'm going to compete with the neighbors I just might have to.
My brother in laws have feeders in front of their house & trailers but nobody shoots around there.
Since I aquired a pair of Walker game ears I actually hear the neighbors feeders go off around sunrise & dark 30 if i'm hunting near the line.
How much corn do you go through in a year?
And how far away should I stay to hunt the trail to a feeder or "pile"?

I can not remember the last time....

Save your money. They ain't hitting my feed was out for the past 5 weeks. I actually emptied mine just so none of it would rotten as the protein and corn were starting to swell. One feeder had about 5 lbs gone in the past 5 weeks. No use in wasting the money. I'm not buying anymore until after the season.

Yep sure do Pat, I now have six troughs that I keep filled with anywhere from 250-350 lbs of corn/protein pellets. Since ' 05 we've been putting them out and filling them and this is the first time I've never had this happen. It's crazy weird that they haven't touched them in over a month whereas other times ,on average, I go through nearly 100 lbs a week.

I like the look of those!
One Brother in law has an electric spinner.
The other is a big metal box with 6 outlets, gravity feed I guess.
Made by Steel Outdoors.
The co-op in Port Gibson sells them.

I give up on buying corn. The deer simply will not eat it.. I've even got a corn field I hunt, that still has a good amount of corn, yet the deer walk right through it to munch on wheat & honeysuckle..

during the season we dont put out anything out at all. On my hinds county lease we take the feeders and put em on the lake and feed the fish during deer season, which the fishing members appreciate. Then in feb we put the feeders back out in the woods and go through about a hundred pounds every 2 weeks per feeder and thanks to LG we will have 4 feeders instead of 3 this year(one got under water and burnt up)

Brewer maybe you should have went feeder fishing

GTK it's strange you mention honeysuckle, I have started fertilizing and trying to promote about 1/2 acre of it on the edge of my main food plot

Fertilizing natural browse is a great idea. The deer usually prefer it to other foods plus you're only out the cost of the fertilizer.
