Please let it rain

Postby gtk » Sun Jun 26, 2005 2:19 pm

:( we are almost 10" behind normal for this year. It seems like its raining everywhere around me (hit & miss showers) but not where I need it, my yard & corn. I'll be happy if it just rains on my corn, forget the yard.

I put out 600 llbs of amonia nitrate yesterday.. That stuff has gone thru the roof ($9.30 a 50llb bag).. They had to photocopy my drivers license before they would even let me buy it. Its amazing how 9-11 has even effected things like fooling with food plots for deer.

btw, where is everyone ?

A little rain sure would be nice about now...we've got about half the cotton laid by but it hasn't grown in the last week and a half it won't grow until we get some rain.

Yeah, it's been mid-upper 90's here the past several days, supposed to stay that way most of the coming week. Pretty high humidity too, some days worse than others.

FINALLY...

After watching storm after storm go just north & south of us yesterday afternoon/evening, I gave up waiting on the rain & went to bed.

I awoke some time last nite to an unfamiliar sound. At first, I thought I was dreaming, but no, it wasnt a dream... It finally rained. About 1.25 inches in a couple of downpours.

Maybe this will substain my corn until it rains again !!

Its been exactly 35 days since it last rained at our place.

We got a little more than an inch here yesterday, the first rain in nearly 4 weeks. Still way behind though, we need more.

Been showering most afternoons this week within about five miles in every direction of our cotton, but the cotton has not seen enough of a shower to even settle any dust in the last 6 weeks.....need rain bad!!! :( :(

Now that harvest season is here, looks like its going to start raining a lot... While we still need the rain, its far to late to help the crops up in this area.

oh well..
