Plots and Stands

Postby Tom Talker » Tue Dec 11, 2007 4:49 pm

Just a couple of our food plots and a couple of new stands we built and set up this year. As far as we know, none of these plots have been tested or limed, but that will change in February.

Yep, cold days, too, with a portable heater. The "one-man" box will be getting some windows after season is over, but the "MRS" has effectively shut down the hunting stand projects til I clean up her "DO" list.

where did you find windows for that stand?

I ended up having to make mine out of plexiglass, and made the window frame out of 1x2. I ended up having my windows where you can either flip them out or slide them open.

The whole box is framed from 2X4's ripped in half. I framed the widows out of the same stuff just leaving about a 1/4 to 3/8 inch gap on the ends and bottom. Then I just cut the plexiglass to a dimension that would fit flush at the top of the frame and overhang the ends and bottom by about 1 1/2 inches. The weather seals over the hinges are cut from a garage door lower seal and held in place with strips of wood. Keeps the rain from dripping through the hinge gap when the window is open. All the windows are held open by a block of the ripped 2x4 with a 3" screw going through it that slides into a hole in the top of the window frame.

turkeyjv, I'm afraid the swivel, reclining office chair would be bad for your back.
