We sow wheat for the dove field around Aug 1- Aug 15. Then the get all the "green fields" in the last weeks of Sept. Seems to get really established before the first frost this way.

we have been planting the week end after labor day but seem to not get the mosture and have to replant again, :bash: so we are going to wait and plant the plots a little later so we don;t have to replant..with the price of fuel  we need to do it just once this year.

Bigric, it would be nice to have them planted before bow season, but with the lack of moisture we usually plant towards the end of October. We lose a little bowhunting time, but it beats replanting.

Most all our plots are Rye grass and pretty much self seed I will start bushhogging them around mid august and disk them by early sept then if a rain front starts through I try to plant some greens just before

We usually plant the last week of sept. or first week of oct. depending on the weather. If its really dry I will wait until later in oct.

Well I don't get to bow hunt as much now but when I do it is not over the plots anyway. Close to the creek crossings and persimmion trees we have.
