Grandson got his first big rifle............

Postby Rajun cajun » Sat Mar 31, 2007 10:36 pm

Well my daughter came into town with my grandkids!

We took Jarren to the Gun show and got him a New England Firearms combo gun!

It has a 20 gauge, .22 long rifle, and 7mm.08 barrell and the gun has a synthetic stock.

We got there at 10 am and it was the last one left with a 7mm.08 barrel. The other was a .243.

My daughter got it for $290.00 and I bought the scope rings and a Bushnell 3X9X40 scope for him. They had the scope for sale for $47.00

I got him 300 rounds of CCI .22 long rifles and 3 boxes of 7mm.08 balistic tips.

They will be back in a few weeks so I can take them to the range and sight it in and let him practice with it.

I want to get him solid at 50 and 100 yards for a few months then work on his long range shooting.

My daughter decided to just take the Winchester 30.30 and shoot it open sighted.

I will probably let her shoot my Remington 760 pump this winter in 30.06 for a scoped gun.

All I bought for myself was 3 packs of 100 feet of heavy nylon parachute cord for utility string for my climbers and lock ons.

We had a great time and have an excited 12 year old boy!

WTG I still remember my first gun like it was yesterday and man did I burn some powder (literally)
Hawkens .50 Kit Gun.
When he grows up all you will need to do is change stock and no other gun is needed ever.
