Sportsman's

Postby teacher » Fri Aug 24, 2007 8:23 am

Does anybody know if they will do a lay-away type deal? I want to go get my new 45-70 but can't pay for the whole deal until the end of the month (you know teacher pay once a month). I was in there last week and they had some in stock, but if it goes like the last year or two you won't be able to find one anywhere pretty soon. If I went and gave them $100 or so would they hold one for me?

My son just got a part time job at the Sportsman's at Winchester and Hacks Cross and he says they do layaway. I didn't realize they did it but if they do, they'll get a lot more of my business than Walmart or Bass Pro....but, Teach, you have to remember, he's a senior at OBHS so that means he was once an eighth grader, so any information provided by him is suspect until proven correct! :rotflol:

 :rotflol:
That is funny!!!
Actually though, if he is a senior, he should be well on his way to outgrowing the problem.
Unfortunately we all know some of us never do!

I would not be surprised if the 45 70 "craze" begins to slow down. I've been in several gun/pawn shops in the last few months and their shelves are full of them.
Just rember I have been wrong before

yeah most of what I've heard lately has been about the 444. Even heard a few guys talking about trading their 45-70's for the 444, but I don't see enough difference to make it worth it.

Their layaway is for 90 days. Last time I was in there they had several 45/70's

The deal is done! 90 days and 20% down is all it takes. When I was in the Hacks Cross store on Saturday the guy told me that he actually had about 34 of them in stock. Said he had a hard time convincing corporate to send him that many, but they finally did. Said he could have sold 3 pallets of them last year.
