Shooting my son's youth rifle after several rounds keeping my eye on target after each shot, it appeared the cross hairs in the scope would shift down into place.

The groups are good .

Is this caused by heat from the barrel ?
An illusion ?

Well it turned out being a bad scope
Every time I would adjust poi it would go some where else.
It was a brand new Simmons 8 point scope.
Problem solved with a different scope.

I knew I wasn't hallucinating when I saw the cross hairs fall slowly down LOL !

I remember the year Simmons, starting selling scopes. I bought a Ruger 7 mag. The guy sold me on the Simmons top of the line scope. A friend of mine who was a tack driver and reloader went to the range with me to sight in. I couldn't hit the paper at 25 yds. after several shots and a sore shoulder Danny, was laughing at me & was going to sight it in. Turned out to be a bad scope, never ever wanted another Simmons.
