In my best effort to support advertisers and members on Msdeer I have 2 guns that need rebarreling.
Both are Remington 700 long actions not magnum.

Do you have access to factory contour barrels in calibers based on the 30-06 case? 270, 280, 30-06

jb the way to go is order a blank from Krieger or Bartlien and have a smith chamber em for ya. There are prefits like the Shilen Match select etc but I like the Krieger and bartlien stuff and neither offer a prefit.

There are lots of options on smiths that do it. I've never heard of verteran gun works tho. I had Dixie do my 6.5-06 AI and the work looks great but I haven't gotten the last few things done that I need to finish to shoot it yet.

Jerry, booger, has been moving his business from his home to his new location on 49 hwy, at Bentonia. I know he has been busy getting set up. Along with gun smithing and sales he is adding a bait shop which is much needed here. I will text him and tell him to check your post.

I can get you either a factory barrel or a custom barrel from a number of very qualified barrel makers. I can do your barrel swap in my shop and set your headspace. I can also cut/crown barrels, thread for muzzle breaks. I can do most anything you need with the exception of hot blue and making barrels.

I am located at 402 HWY 49 N four lane
Bentonia MS 39040

What are your thoughts on a 6.5-06AI barrel for the Remington chassis?

Jerry, you would most likely do better calling Boggar, I went by his shop this morning. And he is very busy trying to get everything up and running. He very much wants you're business, but being a paraplegic, makes it tough to get everything up and running. He is one great man. And you can count on quality work at a great price. Just give him a call and he will be more than willing to help you out. Don't think he gets notices when someone posts to him. He is a great Veteran, and family man and very highly respected for his honesty and integrity.

my thoughts on a 6.5 -06 A1 , for a Remington receiver ??, to tell you the truth I have not had much dealings with that particular set up. I really don't know what type of shooter you are or what you are building a riffle for. If you want me to recommend a barrel and caliber I would need to know a few details:

1) what type of shooting are you wanting to do with this riffle, ( long range target, big game hunting, whitetail hunting etc.
2) are you a hand loader
3) how long have you been shooting
4) whats your budget
5) do you already have the receiver , and if you do what is it

I liked what I've seen on the 6.5-06AI. It shouldn't be as hard on barrels as the 6.5wsm, pretty good velocities(some have seen close to3100fps pushing it pretty hard with 140s), and brass is pretty easily formed from 25-06(recommended over 30-06 by most 6.5-06ai guys). Downsides... Have to form brass, no commercial ammo out there. Your gunna run into that with just about any wildcat round tho.

1:8 twist barrels are pretty much a must to run 140s but that's any 6.5mm
