Bambi Comes Alive

Yes after digging in my old ammo stash I found 180 rounds of LC 69 Match 162 gr ammo in M-1 Garand clips.
I have started fire-forming the brass in Bambi as I dial in the Vortex scope.
I still have a lot of load work to do as I develop the right load, after a lot of talk with some other shooters I am going to try a new bullet. On the left is the NEW 208 gr Hornady A-Max compared to my usual bullet a Speer Gold Match 168 gr HP. Yes I will lose velocity with the heavier bullet but the ballistic coefficient is superior to the Speer. I also will lighten the trigger pull to about 24 ounces instead of 3 1/2 pounds and I may go even lighter.
As it stands now Bambi is good out to 300 yards using the same load I shot in the Ruger.

Sounds good Jerry....I know you will get it like you want it. I would love to shoot it one day.
Also would love to run a couple questions or thoughts by you one day as to what I would like to do to my gun but will be farther down the road not now.

24 oz ? I bet just farting around that gun could make it fire

Will this be a compressed load with the 208gr Hornady?

Greg 24 ounces is a heavy trigger pull on a long range rifle, I did the adjusting today and have it at 22.5 ounces, thats as low as I will take it. Most people say it is a hair trigger.

I have loaded 5 rounds of the 208 A Max using 54 grs of IMR 7828 powder and this is not a compressed load, I have several other powder choices to try if the 7828 doesnt work. Varget, H414, IMR 4064, IMR 4831 and IMR 4350.

Breaking this barrel in and load development are always fun.
