Going to get a 204 Ruger and was wondering about the Ruger American. Are the Ruger American very good guns and good shooters ? I have narrowed down between a Tikka and this gun but have never shot or owned a Ruger. I know I will have to get used to their version of the "accutrigger" which I am not too fond of but in that small of a caliber I think I will be ok being that I have a Savage 17hmr that I finally got used to. Any comments welcome.

I have a Ruger American in 30-06 and as far as I can tell it is a great rifle for the price. Once I tried the trigger I loved it.
My 06 can shoot a 6" group at 440 yards with Speer Gold Match 168 gr hand loaded ammo.
Ruger is known for building good equipment at a decent price.
I can't make a call on the 204 caliber because I have no experience shooting it.

Thanks , I am going the Tikka route. I just cant find anything regardless of price that has the accuracy and smoothness of Tikka/Sako. I just thought I would save some money but after reading the Ruger reviews I went Tikka. Thanks
