I know a lot of people have to buy a certain brand.
I have gone for years using the lower class Tasco and Buschnell scopes on my rifles.
I recently got a Vortex Scope for Bambi and got Honey Bee a Vortex 10x set of binoculars.
We couldn't be more satisfied, Honey Bee is happier with the Vortex then the Leoupold she left behind.

I have always used the lower class Tasco and Bushnell as well. Heck I wouldn't know what to do with a high dollar scope!!!!

I buy the best glass for what I can afford at the moment.. I truly believe that extra $$ you spend on good glass could help you kill that buck that steps out at dusk, when a cheaper scope wouldn't perform as well

I agree with GTK however where I hunt the bucks are not worth the bucks I could justify in investing in a high end scope... Low end bucks ='s low end scopes LOL

I don't like a scope that can see too good at dusk cause u end up shooting something smaller than u thought or might shoot past legal shooting hours....

Wouldn't you be less likely to shoot too small if you could see it better? A watch takes care of the shooting time.

I couldn't agree more,,, couple of years ago I had the opportunity to shoot a great buck with my new 45/70 top with the low end Nikon pro staff,,,, I couldn't see the deer good enuff with the scope to take the shot,, I could see fine with my binos,,, no more low end scopes fer me

optics are worth every penny spent.

I've had rifles over a year before I could put a scope on it. But I'm bad about spending money on stuff I don't need at all.

I've wasted money on a junk bushnell elite 4200. I was thinking heck $450 it'll work fine for what I wanted to do at the time. It held zero pretty good but if you turned the turrets at all it would not return back to zero.

So far the Ziess conquest is a great variable power scope for the money. IF you shot around you can get a 6-20x50 for $600. The regular ones without target turrets can be got for around $350-400.

Another good option that I've been playing with on my 300black out is the SWFA SS fixed power. I know its a 6x fixed power(offered up to a 20x) but so far this thing has proved to track pretty good. I've managed to get on targets up to 458 yards with a 208grn Amax @ 975fps by dialing 45moa and it returned right back to zero. I know its not a heavy recoiling rifle but I'm gunna put it on my 6.5-06AI for the load work up and see how it does.

I'm going to use a blackout this season I think. Lots of thick cover. My sniper rifle is just too heavy to tote lol. That's my excuse.

For the $ I love the Weaver Classic Extreme 2.5-10x56.
It can be had for a mere $250, and it's just as clear as a Leupold or Zeiss.
Just my 2 cents.

Other than a few 22s all my big guns have scopes of equal or higher price than the gun they are mounted on.
The majority are Leupold VX3s and the latest addition is a Nikon Monarch 3 in 4-16 X 50.
