NEF .243 and Loads....

Postby gtk » Sun Nov 04, 2007 4:21 pm

My son's NEF Handi rifle is pretty good up to 70 yards. Past that, its spraying the bullets over 12"'s.

For those of you with kids shooting the .243 handi, what are ya'll shooting to get good consistency out to 100 yards? It doesn't matter if its a handload or not.

Shooting the Remmington 95 Accutip Boattail now.

Thx.

There is a guy at Church and his daughter has one. He said he is shooting Federal 85 grain ???? and it shoots good at 100 yards.

I have some Hornady 55 grain that shoot really well, but thats just too small for deer.

I got my little girl a rossi youth modle 243. the first time out shotting it i shot a box of bullets trying to get the scope on. by the time we got to the last of the box, we had it close, but i wasnt happy with it. we took it out and shot it today and at 60 yards i wasnt even hitting the target, the third shot i took at about 30 yards and it shot about 2" high and it jamed up on me, i could not get the thing to release to get the empty casing out. I have to take back and see what i can do before saturday. so far i am not happy at all with the rossi 243 single shot youth modle.

I treid to set the scope on a handi-rifle this weekend but it was a .270. I had the same problem. I was hitting dead on at 25 yards and missing the whole target at 50 yard. I got on the target after a box of ammo, but never was happy with it. I told him to do what he wants but I would get rid of it and buy a rifle.

I let warren run three of them thru at 50. The 80 grain Remmington shot the same as the fusion @ 50. We will run several thru at 100 tomorrow.

which barrell does your rifle have ie.. reg. or bull ?
My NEF SB2 Ultra .243 with bull barrell shoots Rem Cor-Loks great at 100yds.
gun weights quite a bit more, but shots are way better than standard gun.

call it a 100yd gun and when its time, carry the "big dog" for long shots.

I shot Jbullard1's NEF 243 and i was very dissappointed if you look at the pic of the doe i shot you will see where i hit it but i was aiming at the shoulder right in the drop em dead zone, but i was shooting at 150 yards. I dont know whats wrong with them guns they ought to shoot better than that.
