NEF 45-70 synthetic Handi Rifle.....

Postby patinlouisiana » Tue Aug 16, 2016 6:05 pm

was in my brother-in-law gun safe and they got flooded.
Does it have much value now that "anything goes" for primitive weapons?
Should I spend the money to have it gone through professionally? :bash:

I would just oil it up. I left a gas operated shotgun in the bottom of an oxbow for over 1 month until water went down and I could find it. Oiled it up and it is fine. I would hate to sink money in a handi rifle.

I think you can clean it up yourself, Break it down into the major components, spray the innards with a good penetrating oil, brush and clean the barrel interior, oil it up. and check the operation of the action. There youtube vids on disassembling and reassembling them.
If you go the pro route what would it cost?

My Brother in law brought the gun by tonight. Hummm. Billy that's not my gun! "Oh! I wonder where I got it?"
Now I need to go see if my Handi rifle is in my safe. LMAO
