My nephew shoots the same gun in a .270 caliber, his gun is a good shooter, very accurate. I'm not a .300 fan but it should get the job done just fine.

I hunt with the Shorttrac .270 WSM and really don't have any complaints. I'm purdy hard on equipment and hunt religously, and it has not missed a beat. I have bolt guns but all my "hunting guns" are semi-autos. Used to use a Remmy 7400 and this Browning will make an a#% out of it. I reload, and between it and buddy's Remington 700 in the same caliber, my groups are smaller (.5" 3 shots, sometimes less).

I chose it over the BAR because it holds 4 rounds and the BAR holds 3. It's fit and finish are second to the BAR, but I think the accuracy is comparable.

Looking back now, I think I would choose the .300 WSM over the .270 WSM.

I had one and its a good shooting gun and the only reason why I sold it was I bought a Browning 300 wsm Medallion with the Boss I went to sportsman warehouse and saw it and got it.

Plus I sold it to someone (my boss) that said if he ever sold it I would be the first to know.

I have the BAR II in .300wsm with Nikon Monarch and really like it. pretty much the same gun IMO.
