300 WSM

Postby danielw » Wed Nov 12, 2008 7:08 am

I need some input, I have found an encore barrel chambered in 300WSM, how much recoil does this caliber have, looking at it for a beanfield rifle. I am planning on useing my Browning 7/08 this year, but I would have to lob it across the beanfield.

how does the recoil compare to 280 or 7 mag, I got rid of both of these calibers (regrets on the 280), and now want to replace long range rifle.

The 300 should have more recoil but the good thing about the encore is it pushes up more than back.
help preserve our national blast time.

a single shot 300wsm will kick a little more than a 7mag, because of the increased bullet weight..if you're wanting a long range rifle, remember small bullet/ alot of powder...7mm ultramag and 7mm stw are made to be 500+ yard guns with 140 gr bullets....if you decide on the 300, stick with the pretty standard 150gr or smaller to get your range and minimum recoil..
