Handi Rifle in 7mm-08

Postby Slobberknocker » Sun Jan 25, 2009 1:39 pm

Awhile back some of you were talking about buying a Handi Rifle in 7-08. Did you do so and if so, how did it do? I was thinking about purchasing one for my 17 year old in synthetic and stainless. But, a friend told me they were too light and too short to have much accuracy beyond 100 yards. What do you think? Also, who sells that gun from Jackson to Memphis?

I've got a buddy who has one, and loves it...he's got the 45/70 barrel too, and that's the only gun he uses all year...the length of the gun doesn't have anything to do with the accuracy....the majority of accuracy problems have to do with the shooter...i've got a 7mm08 (Remington 700), and the cartridge is one of my favorite deer cartridges of all time...its short action, so its easy to maneuver; like the handi rifle..it has minimal recoil, like a 243( same case)...it will push a 140 grain bullet 3000 fps...lite magnum speed....for open woods and small fields, it don't get much better....by the way, i love my short 45/70 handirifle so much; it was the only gun i used this season...i hunt thick river bottoms, and i'm 6'2"...the length of the gun doesn't matter..its like shooting a toy gun...

My nephew got one for Christmas.. Its a sweet shooting little gun. If my son didn't already have the .243, I'd get him a 7mm-08 in a Handi Rifle.

I have one and will shoot 200 yds if one walked out. The barrell is 22" long the stock makes it look shorter than it is. by all means get one. you will like it.

if weight is a concern, you can get a .243 w/ heavy barrel and laminated stock. I have one and its got the weight. heavier than my browning bar .300wsm.
