We processed one year and i got tried of them late nights after work now we just do it for a couple of friends and our own. We have a meat room and a walk-in cooler that holds eight deer. It helps save money during deer season :D . If we decide to do a few all we charge is 50.00 to skin, quarter up,cut, wrap.

Does Ed Piper have a cooler now? If not you may want to make sure its cold enough outside to keep your deer good. I used to take my deer to him.

No cooler that I am aware of. When I kill a deer, I always cut the hind quarters up and the tenderloin up myself. I take the rest to Ed to get ground up into burger/sausage immediately.

Wow, sounds like someone (or ones in this case) had great opening days. Definitely sounds like he's gonna be busy for a while.

I took my 10 point to a new place in Holcomb, MS - very clean place!

I know the person who is doing most of the processing work - they cut all the fat and grissle off and the meat I saw being packaged looked very good.

They have a menu that offers sausage, snack sticks, bologna, tenderized steaks, hamburger meat, tamales, etc.. I tried some of the bologna and snack sticks and they were really good.

HOW MUCH DO YOU GUYS PAY FOR THE PROCESSING?

Smokey Joes charged me $30 for burger/sausage. I thought it was kinda high, as I just gave them front shoulders and neck.

Ed Piper is real reasonable, from what I remember. Charges by the pound.

Dino's is high (probably 70-80) , but makes specialty stuff like summer sausage. I'll let you know what they charged when I get it back.

It is before you get to the old bait shop location. There is a mechanical contractor in the building now that you can see from I-55. The guy that runs the deer processing is Mike Renfroe (he used to own the bait shop).
