How expensive is deer meat?

Postby triple_duece » Tue Nov 15, 2016 9:36 am

Well it's not cheap. Fixing to get off work this morning from FD, and get a call from my son. I can tell by his voice that something is wrong. This time in the morning I know he's headed to work. He tells me his truck is messed up and that he hit a stupid deer when it came running out of a yard and crossed right in front of him. He's ok, but truck isn't. ImageImageImageImage

And of course the meat is iced down.

Deer meat ain't cheap a tall. Even without this happening deer meat I expensive if you count time spent, gas, food you eat while hunting, and land cost it all adds up...so a person could eat steak everyday and save money.
Hate this happened to him.

Thanks for the positive replies. Yeah deer meat ain't cheap no matter how you kill it just sucks to do it this way. Was only able to salvage hind quarters and back straps. Thinking the truck ain't totaled. Air bags didn't go off so there is a chance.

We were lucky my son wasn't hurt as I've seen wrecks with much worse outcomes. I'm glad that it was just the truck and didn't come through the windshield, would've been much worse so we can count our blessings. Anyway life is good as long as you can overcome the downsides that life gives you. We will be fine just a setback and lesson learned.

Saturday is our rifle opener so maybe get back at them deer lol.

Dang hate that had happened. Glad he's ok. Most times it's best to hit the animal than run off the road

Yea we know that but as a young 20 year old, possibly not fully focused on the road ( pure speculation) he swerved and over corrected. Flipped it and as he was crawling out he said 6 cars passed by not one stopping to check on him. What the hell is wrong with people?

He had a scrape on his arm from the seatbelt and odd thing is the airbags never went off?? How can that happen in a full roll over?

Know a guy who's wife rolled her Mercedes SUV, last week trying to dodge hitting a fox Squirrel. She was ok but he is still laughing about it. Told her baby, you know I love Squirrel and Dumplings.

I am glad everyone is ok. This time of year the deer really seem to be on the move. .. on the road, in the woods is a whole other matter.

I've seen more dead on the roadsides than I ever have this time of year. I'm scared to death driving home in the evenings. Hit one in my F250 years ago and it scared the daylights out of me. So glad everyone is ok.
