Where Has

Postby terry08 » Sat Nov 19, 2016 3:16 pm

Everyone gone? No one is posting anything, must be watching football. This wind is keeping me inside this afternoon. The doe this morning kicked my tail. Ain't as young as I used to be. After dragging her to the fire lane, I realized after several attempts I wasn't going to get her in the truck. Had to gut her on site just to load her. Then had to get her hung up and dressed was a chore in itself. Not much fun hunting alone at my age. Wanted to head back to the shack but talked myself out of it. Heck, it's just the first day.

LOL
I thought you had a towlawnmower and trailer.
Wish I was closer so you could have made fun of me trying to load her up...

I built me a stuffing/deboning table mid day. Now I'm back at it. Image

When the wind got up I went back to the house. Then spouse and I went to Bryan to get cow feed. Ate. Ran through Bass Pro ( bought nothing), Sams, Walmart, Kroger, got diesel and came home. Back at it but was late. Spooked several does.

Jerry, you are so right. In my excitement I came back to the house got the truck and headed back. Sherrie asked me earlier, why didn't you take the TroyBilt Deer Hauler. I had actually given it no thought. But can assure you it will be ready to go tomorrow.

Nice table, you will need to Clorox and scrub well. The grooves between the boards will trap small particles and promote bacteria growth. A recipe for cross contamination.

I would brush it on sand between each coat and apply at least four good coats. Should seal the grooves sufficiently.

That will work also. Don't know if this is a permanent table or temporary. If I were doing meat for anyone other than myself, I would go with a stainless steel top. A bit more expensive but a lot safer when it comes to health issues.

Just for my personal use terry. I've been wanting a table with a hole for the sausage to go through. I'm gonna add a 1/2"x24x24" piece of the white cutting board for deboning.

Terry, that reminds me of a hunt a long time ago. I shot a 3 point (long time ago that was legal) and was soooooo excited. I shot it with the .270 bolt that my husband had just given me for Christmas. He was at the trailer (in Benton) where we lived at the time, so it was up to me to bring it home. Well, I tried pulling it in the cab of the truck and, with no success, I then tried to get it in the bed of the truck which had a top on it and hay inside for our dogs. He had just brought home a litter of discarded puppies that I was in the process of raising, so they were all in the bed, getting in my way of loading the deer. I was exhausted from all of that and realized I needed to just go on and field dress the deer, so I did, now in the darkness. I was a mess and this exhausted me even more so there was no way I was going to get that little ol' deer loaded. :bash: I had to drive home and with a smile on my face and blood all over me, I told my husband that the new gun sure did shoot good. We got my deer home. :party
