Whats happening in your neck of the woods ?

Well it's over

I seemed strange to not go hunting this afternoon. I have been enjoying the season since October 1. Bow season was hot and dry. I saw deer, lots of does with small and spotted fawns. Just didn't get that perfect shot.
Gun season was fun, interesting, and will result in the whole family leaving the big club we are in. We usually join as a family group, because we enjoy hunting together and with all the children. That club will lose 5 family memberships. On to the next adventure.
My lease and the farm were productive for the kids, they all connected. The kids pretty much skunked the adults this year!

Well it's over

I could write a book.... The guy who was president died, and it went straight into very bad management. I hunt hardwoods, have a stand and been claiming an area three years. New guys puts a stand and feeder within 40 yards... I can see him.... Says he was told it was ok.... No.....
One new person complained to the board about women hunting alone, on a stand without husbands or fathers.... I thought this was 2018.... And you know it didn't go well....

No need for a book, nobody got time for that. That’s why I bought my little piece of paradise. My place, my rules.

I already have two small leases I hunt. We have for years tried to stay in a big club to enjoy hunting as a family. We are currently searching for a larger tract of land we can lease for us all to hunt.

Yes, it was a little strange not to feel a rush to get home from work and go over the hill. I love hunting and no matter how unusual a season I have, I look forward to the next. The deer are there. They just won the battle this past year. Still, there is meat in the freezer.
When I see others post about hunting camps and having to go to a camp, it really makes me grateful that I just get up and walk out my door. I am truly blessed.
I have enjoyed seeing others' successes this year and as always, enjoyed the conversation.
Now for turkey season!!!!
