Whats happening in your neck of the woods ?

FB Deer Page

Postby gtk » Sat Nov 17, 2018 10:31 am

So the first thing that shows up in my news feed this am, is a pic of a gut shot doe, with her entrails strung out in a tree, and hanging out her side, and the poster bragging about his "gun"

I would be ok on a dedicated site like this, but on FB ? I can guarantee you the pic is already on some anti-hunter site.

My opinion, things like that pic is what hurts this hobby. Someone who is "on the fence" about hunting would quickly become an anti-hunter.

I often think that as hunters we are our own worst enemy.

I agree, there is no need to post pictures like that on any social media site.

You hit the nail on the head.
Why post those because you are the big bad hunter that has no skill with a firearm. It bothers me a lot the way people post things on social media.

Got to take into account, are they really hunters. I doubt it.

To many in our world today are not true hunters, with a real skill and a love of the chase. They are deer killers.

Big difference between hunting and killing.

Killing is quiet easy given the right circumstances. Hunting one to kill is a whole new ball game.

Instant gratification. It’s what we r coming to expect and social media allows us to “show off” in mere seconds.

Then again I hunted for hours and haven’t anything to show but wet socks, wet pants, and having to explain to my wife why I showed up home not wearing either.
