Good luck. I'm headed out myself. Hoping the big 9 I'm hunting slips up.

That’s a great buck Steve!!! Congrats!!! The body on mine was not that big, but I do like his rack. Meat is in the cooler. Glad that part is done.

This was a old deer my buddy wanted out of the herd prob 6 to 8 years old
The morning hunt I didn't see a deer till 9:00 I had did 2 series of soft grunts then a spike came down a road directly down wind came within 10 yds not 5 mins later 3 does came up behind me then about a hundred yards down wind I see deer running every where they came running does were all around me prob 20 in all 2 does kept running back I knew something was up here he came running directly at me dead down wind at 50 yds he stopped looking right at me I shot him in the brisket he went down then jumped up and ran when he passed I anchored him with a follow up shot . This is the buck I missed a couple weeks ago when my crosshairs broke redemption is sweet

That is a great story. I can only imagine how you felt when he went down. Heading to our Christmas Eve service at church. Will pass along my story when I get a chance. It is total opposite of yours though. Oh, and I think it was 34 or 35 years ago today I killed my first deer ever..... a little 4 point in Delta National Forest. Same gun but open sights.

I enjoyed my coffee in the sunroom this morning and then began getting dressed. As I was about to head out the door, I looked out the window and saw 2 deer down the hill at the double gates. I went outside and before I could get out of the yard I saw another 5 by my husband's shop. I knew it was going to be a good day. As things rocked on though, all I saw were antler less deer. No chasing going on. By the time I crossed the creek I had seen 13 antlerless. Then I saw two more grazing. I was standing in the wide open watching those 2 and heard a grunt. I knew I would probably see him come out of this patch of grown up stuff shortly. A doe came out and she was probably about 50 yards from me. She headed away from me and towards the other 2. Then the buck came out. I liked him from the side and when he turned and looked at me, I liked him from that way too, so...... BOOM! Down he went and that was it. Walked back to house, got Mule and ropes to hoist him, drove back over to him (long way down the road and around), saw another good buck, loaded my deer, brought him home, cleaned him, disposed of carcass, cleaned everything up, and that was it. All by myself. I will sleep good tonight.

My son text me awhile ago said he staying in Bentonia, to hunt today. Said he went to Berry's, store last night to get something to eat and saw 2 big bucks cross the road. Heading into our place, said they looked wore out.
