I saw the message from Rajuncajun below and was curious. How many of you have actually hunted deer size game with a handgun? I've always wanted to try it but never have.

I do not own a pistol suitable for hunting. Wish I did though :)

Last weekend I was at our biggest Game Fair (That's kinda like a Shot Show but country sports oriented and not just for guns) and had spoken with some African Game Safari Outfitters. I had picked up some of their promotional DVDs and in one, a guy was hunting black wildebeest (about the size of a cow) with what looked like a scoped Smith and Wesson Model 27, with an 8.75 inch barrel. Dropped that wildebeest stone dead at about sixty yards. Good to watch.

I have hunted with a .44 Ruger Redhawk, but its hard to just take it when there might be a chance of the "big One " at 200 yrds and all I have is a pistol. guess it would be the same as a bow, but its still hard to do.

I had a .44 Super Blackhawk with the 10 inch barrell and a scope on it......100 yard groups bench rest was no problem.......

Hurtiing wrist after long target sessions was a problem!

I killed a few deer with and it was fun, few hogs also.

My favorite was an old original .44 blackhawk 6 inch barrell........great hog pistol for up close and personal hunting!
