His neck was 20 inches right behind his head. He was so good looking, that I had him mounted. He looks like the older brother to my son's first deer.

He mounted my first forked horn deer many years ago. It's still hanging in my office. He did a great job. I used to hunt with a family that worked with him at Ingalls.

He's still plugging along at the ship yard, and got a shop full of mounts to do all the time.

the guy who did all of my mounts turned his business over to his son... his son died of a heart attack about a month ago, he was about 37 I think... i dont know if his father will pick it back up or not.. if not, i will be looking for a new taxidermist around here..

37!!!! That raises a red flag to me. Wow I've got heart disease on both sides of my family. They keep telling me I should start eating right now...guess they're right!

yep bt58, its getting that "time" in our life (I'm 38 ) to start watching our health.
i never in my life had to worry about my weight. then i went & broke my leg back in 1998. I put on some serious weight after that. When I graduated high-school, I weighed 119. when I graduated college, i weighed 165. last february, I weighed 225. with the diabetes in my family history, I decdided that was enough, & I dropped down to 180 thanks to mr atkins.
I've been hovering between 178-185 now for about a year now.

I work for a pharma company and two of the drugs I carry deal with blood pressure and cholesterol. We have to study a great deal to be familiar with the disease states, etc. It will actually scare you to death if you saw the statistics in regards to blood pressure, lipids and diabetes. For example, 50 - 60% of diabetics that have a coronary event (heart attack, etc) will not make it to the hospital. The second event goes up even from there. I started watching my blood pressure about two years ago when I was 32. When I took it, it was 178/115. Keep in mind the recommendation is 130/85 for the normal population and 120/80 and lower for diabetics. That's when I decided I had to get it down. The doctor showed me an illustration of what would happen to me if I kept the bp up. He graphed it and told me I'd be lucky to see 55. Now, I really don't think they can predict life expectancy (I'll leave that to God), but it is eye opening.
Sorry for the long message....but I can go on all day about it (-;
