Crossbow Confusion

How many tickets do you think the gamewardens will write this year because of the crossbow ? I have heard countless people state that "Crossbows are legal during bow season". I explain to them that crossbows are legal during "primitive weapons" season, and bow season is NOT primitive weapon season .

It's all about making money and there is plenty of people going to pay STUPID TAX this season if they don't read the rules.

I thought it was for only disabled regardless of the season. Did they change it this year? I didn't think it passed...

ghc, you may need to get new digest, b/c things have changed. crossbow license $ 10, WMA permit $ 15, Must be HIP cert. to hunt Dove $ free, and getting to hunt deer in the Great State of Mississippi $ PRICELESS

I probably just skimmed over that part. I see where the seasons changed for the South....YEAH! I never been one for the fine print (-;. Anyway, what does everyone think about the crossbow addition?

ghc,

i have no problem with folks wanting to use crossbows. Personally, I don't think allowing crossbows is going to decimate the deer population like some think. Heck, there are so many deer in MS (most places anyway) that we need to harvest more.

I've heard from several people who have tested crossbows, that the crossbow is not much more accurate than a good tuned compound. Don't know if thats true or not.

I believe: To each his own, just keep it legal, dont condem others for what they might enjoy :)

ghc, I'm not buying one. Only thing I see is for those poachers to be able to be quieter now. Nobody is going to put their guns down for a crossbow unless it may be for their safety sake of the child or something.
