Nikon Buckmaster vs Leupold VXII

Postby Abolt » Tue Aug 16, 2005 3:21 pm

I know the opinions on this topic will probably be split right down the middle but what the heck. I currently have a Nikon Monarch 3.5-10X50 scope on my 7 Mag and it is a very good scope. I need to put a new scope on my 270 and I am leaning towards a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x50, but I am also considering a Leupold VXII 3x9x50. I know there are bound to be some folks on here who have used one or both of these. I have never really heard anything negative about either one so let's hear yout opinions.

I've got a Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 on my 270 and I like it...picks up light real well. If it was me I'd go with the Buckmasters because I believe you're getting as good of a scope for less money.

currently i have nikon 3x9x40. its 20+ years old. (Alan, its the same gun/scope combo I had in Highschool thru college) . My next scope will be a 3x9x50 probably. I have a Leupold fixed 4x 40mm on my 22mag. Both scopes have held up well over the years.

The other day, I saw where someone posted on another site that Walmart had marked down the buckmaster scope to $79.00 at their store.

Personally you probably couldnt go wrong with either. I'd pick the one with the best price :)

You sure got your moneys worth out of that scope didn't you Greg? The scope I am replacing on my 270 is an old Redfield that I have had on my gun since college. it served it's purpose, but it just does not cut it anymore.

You can't go wrong with either scope but I replaced my old Leupold with a Zeiss 3.5X10X50 last season...

I currently own Both scopes, and have no complaints with either. I may put a Nikon on the Ruger #1 that I just got. :D

I had a nikon buckmasters 3-9x40, and I bought a Leupold VX II 3-9-50, and I like it much better. It picks up light a lot better (of course the obj is bigger) but I like my leupold!!
