Weird problem

Postby Allisonboatsms » Sun Aug 14, 2011 8:46 pm

Ok since i got my bow restrung, I had to resight it a little and in doing so had to move my sight quite a bit to the right to where its WAY over .Like I only have a smidge of pins showing past my bow . What might have changed to cause it to be so far outa whack compaired to before it was strung?

Yeah its weird .. nothing else should been moved . it was just installing string and cable.

Weird. Could you have changed your anchor point? Could be your old string was so stretched , your bow is now shooting better/faster?

Its kind of like when sighting in my rifle.. Sometimes if I move the scope a few clicks left/right, it changes the up/down point of impact too?

If this is happening most likely you scope is canted.

Have you checked your centershot, making sure your rest didn't get bumped while the bow was in the vise. Might also be a good time to paper tune your bow just to check everything out.

You need to have your bow tuned, no doubt about it.

did a paper tune and checked the whole bow out .. its shooting good but the sight is still way over to the right.Just something i couldnt figure out . I know things can do weird things when they are broken down and put back together but I do 80% of my bow work myself and I have never seen a sight have to be moved this much after being down and back.

I would say either your timing was corrected or messed up.

Not sure what type of sights you have, but mine you can move them on the rail or just the pins....

I'd like to know the outcome of this myself cause putting a cable and string in the very same grooves of your pullys should not change your sights like that. Like Chadbragg said either something is messed up now or it was messed up before and now is corrected. Let us know. Thanks

guy at the bow shop said mine was outa time a little but even he couldnt explain the drastic change in the sight picture. it shoots well so im gonna let it ride .. might have a new bow soon and this will become my back up anyway.

You can check your string and adjust limb torque by string twist my mathews was bad to get out of tune also your tiller may out a little if your timing is out on your cams this will also affect your arrow flight all are things to consider as was said make sure your center shot is correct it is something simple one more thing is your draw length if it is a little short you have a tendesy to torque your bow and cause you to shoot to the left a new string could change this I would check it in the old days the slower bows were a lot more forgiving than the fast bows of the present
