Lefty Question

Postby lugnutzz » Tue Sep 03, 2013 8:02 am

I shoot a rifle left handed. I used to shoot a right handed bow as it feels natural to hold and shoot. However I am left eye dominate. Never been a problem til this year. I have a diverging right eye and am having some trouble shooting and seeing through peep. I am wondering how it would be to change and shoot as a lefty now. Could I shoot my current bow (right hand diamond razor edge) left handed?

with enough practice I would think anything is possible.

I too am left eye dominant. I shoot my rifle left handed, but my bow right handed. I can't imagine trying to shoot a bow lefthanded, it just doesn't feel right.

Solution: Buy a crossbow :)

My biggest problem is my right is turned out at a 14degrees which makes anything up close, reading, working ( maybe I could join the masses under Obama on disability, lol), computer stuff and driving hard at times without closing one eye. Also I see better up close out of right and distance better out of left.

I am left handed, so I have grown up in a right handed world. There have been many instances where I have had to adapt to using things meant for right handed use. Not always the best fit, but manageable. I have shot many right handed bows left handed. It is awkward, but I have had no problems with it. I have even killed a deer with my left handed bow shooting right handed. I used to practice shooting it both ways just in case the situation arose where I need to be able to do it, just like with my guns, and it paid off.

Is it the perfect solution? No! Can it be reasonably done? Absolutely!

I am ambidextrous as well. I taught myself to shoot left and right. You can do it will take practice.

Buy a left-handed bow and with a little practice it will feel normal. I am righty but swicthed to lefty with bow several years ago with no problem.
