First bow hunt ever and a miss

Postby fbcoach39 » Thu Nov 21, 2013 6:07 pm

We got out of practice early today so I went and climbed in my stand for about an hour and a half. After an hour here come three does. I get a shot at around 25 yards and miss. I am disappointed but must say I am hooked on this bow hunting stuff. Up close and personal!!

The hardest thing for a beginner is to wait and let the deer get close I only shoot 25 yds if absoluutey necessary you will have .more encounters a miss with a bow holds no shame I have bowhunted for many years and still miss if you dont have a range finder you should invest in one the best money you will ever spend and practice every chance you can

Don't be dissapointed! It happens to everyone. Even the pros!
You accomplished the hard part, getting drawn back without being noticed. Keep at em and good luck

i absoutly belive it's worse than a drug addiction my first bow hunt was 47 years ago and i am still as wild about it today my first kill was 36 years ago a spike buck i remember it like it was yesterday i was hunting in st francis county ark my bow was a browning cobra 50lbs easton gamegetter 2114 and a bear razor head i was hunting on the miss river bank ,on a ditch crossing it was dec 22 1977 had a light snow on the ground buck came up 15yds spine shot him he fell in his tracks i was so pumped i almost hyperventilated what a rush hope it doesn't take you 11 years to get your first kill, when you do you will never forget it i have had the pleasure of success 69 times in my bow hunting career welcome to the most fantastic sport in the world. :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

I have missed more than I have killed so don't sweat it. Most my misses were when I just started out. I had to learn on my own about having to aim a little low from an elevated stand, waiting for the right shot and not rushing it, scent control etc.

aint nothing compare to bow hunting and as stated above a range finder is on of the best investments a bow hunter can make...... Misses are gonna happen so don't sweat it coach, I miss one a year and I have killed several with my bow. I still remember the first bow kill like it was yesterday...Keep on keeping on
