Bigsteve, I can't say I understand because I have not experienced what you are going through. But, I do know by your posts that you are a man of perseverance.
Back in the 70's, when I shot tournament archery and only hunted with a compound bow all season, no firearm. There was a gentleman in Jackson Archery Club, who had all muscle removed from his right arm due to cancer. He could not draw his bow string, but he would hold his release aid with his right hand and use his left to push the bow to full draw. He was a great inspiration & won quite a few tournaments in his class. Don't cut yourself short, I know you can do it. :):):)

Good luck, I am sure we will all face obstacles one day. You have been a great mentor to so many and have inspired all of us. I look forward to all your accomplishments with the crossbow. Just keep on posting.

Aint nothing to be down about.. Look at it as just a new chapter in your successful and memorable hunting career. I know you would rather shoot your traditional rig BUT now you can adopt this new challenge of cross bow hunting. I read something about you catching a ton of flack from your bowclub members and I personally think that's just crap on their part. If you were totally healthy and choosing to shoot the crossbow maybe I would feel different but to me if a crossbow is your only pain free way to stay active and enjoy the great outdoors then by all means brother pick that thing up and get to work!

I know how hard it will be, cause I love bow hunting also. But now you just use a new type of bow. You learn some new skills. But most of all you get to continue enjoying the sport you love. Have fun choosing a set up!

Big don't let it get you down.. you will enjoy the crossbow.. I had to quit bowhuntin back in the early 90s because of bad shoulders... My shoulders would heal up during the offseason of racing and I would think ok I am going to be able to shoot my bow,,,, welp when racing season would be winding down my shoulders hurt so bad I couldn't shoot my bow... When I retired the driving suit in after the 02 season my shoulders finally got well enuff to shoot a bow and I was able to start over again. If we would have had the option of the crossbow I would have hunted with one..... I probable could have gotten the doctors to give me the paper work to get a crossbow license back then but I would have had to quit racing too.... I did miss bowhunting for little over 10 years hang in there fella I sure look forward to your hunting adventures this coming season

Heard the saying "when one door closes another will open" the crossbow just opened the door. :)
