New from North Mississippi

Postby xtolled » Sun Oct 05, 2014 12:51 pm

Hey new to the site. Just here to learn some tips and tricks and maybe share some great stories. First hunt of year this morning and missed a doe at 50 yds. First time to come to full draw and release an arrow on a deer so not a failure for me. Look forward to talking with everyone.

Welcome!

Yep, let em get closer. Nearly all of my bow kills have been 15 yards or less. And the same goes for most successful bow hunters. Keep that in mind when your setting up a spot and figuring out where to hang your stand. You want to be pretty much right on top of where you think the deer will be. Dont be setting up a stand in the hopes of getting a 30-50 yard shot.

Bow season is different than gun. Theres a lot of other scents in the woods to distract the deer from yours.

Thanks lazyghost I will definitely keep that in mind. Looks like my set up is good for what your describing. The deer should be crossing me at about 10 yards. Hopefully I can put all the puzzle pieces together next weekend.
