Going back....
To vertical bow this season. Gonna keep my crossbow to use occasionally. I like the crossbow but it's not the same and since the kids are older I will have more time to practice. I'm watching archerytalk.com for a deal. Leaning towards the Hoyt Faktor... can't wait til October!

Re: Going back....
I am still using my compound. But I am thinking of upgrading and letting the oldest grandson have mine. He is begging to learn.

Re: Going back....
Have been thinking of getting me a crossbow but just don't that much about them. Guess I need to start doing a little research on brands, models and such. I haven't bow hunted in several years but when I did I loved it and just wanting to get back into it and leaning toward the crossbow because of back and shoulder problems.

Re: Going back....
Until a few weeks ago I had never shot one. I borrowed a friends ten point cross bow and holy cow is that thing a joy to shoot. VERY accurate and fast. I bet between me and my wife and son we shot well over 100 bolts

Re: Going back....
Terry I think part of it is that so many got excited and bought them before they knew much about them or what they wanted or needed. They are noisy, and don't have the range that a lot of people think. The boys got Doug one so he could continue to bow hunt, but he really does not like it.

Re: Going back....
my (hunting) grand daughter has started asking about bow hunting and my wife was going to get her a crossbow and she told her she wanted a regular bow like paw paws. So I will have a partner to practice with this off season and I am really looking forward to it... I had been thinking of getting a cross bow but that will wait for a little while now. I have been looking at all the youth bows out there and man it sure is a lot to choose from....

Re: Going back....
Steve I totally agree. Everyone thinks the crossbow requires no practice or anything and it's like a rifle. One thing I'll say is bows have really gone up since 2007 when I bought my last one. I'm gonna buy on a budget!

Re: Going back....
Compound, long, recurve, cross bows, rifles, shotguns, spears, or knife. It all requires practice and repetition to be AND STAY accurate. Some are just more forgiving than others.
