What kind of Bow do you shoot?

Postby nubbs » Tue Jul 15, 2008 5:59 am

What is everyone shooting this year? Anyone purchasing a new bow?

I shoot a Mathews Outback. I've always been partial to Mathews, but the new PSE X FORCE is pretty sweet from what I've seen and heard. It's also fast around 340 fps, but I'll stick with the Mathews for now.

I'm also going to try the Rage 2-blade broadhead this year, If you've watched a Drury Outdoors video latley you'll see why.

I also switched to a Tropy Ridge Mantis V Drive pendulum sight last year and I'm really happy with it. I'm so much more consistent with one pin.

Anyway I'll stop rambling about my stuff.

What are yall using?

Been thinking about switching to pendulum myself. Never used one before.. So how do you site it in? Just sight for 40 yards then it will be good for 30, 20 , etcc??

I shoot a Switchback.

With the one I've got I have it sighted in at 20yds fixed then when I get in a tree it's good to go up to about 40 yds with the pendulum. I'm not sure I would be shooting much outside of 40 anyway but if I needed to I think I could just aim a little higher and would be ok. That's what I was told when I sighted mine in. I like you had never used one before either.

I bought me a Bear Instinct last year and hope to get my first bow kill this year. Had a browning youth bow for a year to "test" out bow hunting and I found out how much of a adrenaline rush it gives you. Its 10 times better than holding a rifle.. I'm gonna try a pendelum this year too. Haven't figured out which one yet though i think i may lean towards the truglo. I'll prolly stick to my Muzzy 4 blades, unless i get enough guts to try the mechanical, then i'll get some rage. Only 77 days left...

If you do go with a pendulum I would highly recommend the Tropy Ridge Mantis V drive. It's really simple to sight in and easy to use. I've always used a fixed blade Crimson Talon, but I have to try the Rage 2-blade it just looks to good. I really hope you get your first bow kill this year. I got mine last year and I can tell you thers's nothing else like it.

Whats the price on it? I've just heard so many people say different things about all pendelums I ain't sure which one i want, but i do know i want one that will be easy to set up and quiet.

New PSE X Force 7 - SWEET!! Gonna try the 2 blade RAGE this year, always shot 3 blade Vortex Mini Max (expandable) with great results, but lost my biggest deer yet due to poor penetration. MAKE SURE!!! you buy a QUIET pendelum sight. I cannot count the number of deer that have jumped my string with a pendelum due to vibration. As with everything, technology has come a long way.

Ruger.... you must have had a Keller pendulum, they are very noisy. I bought the trophy ridge and it's no noise at all. It's much better than the Keller and easier to use.

PSE Thunder Flite LC with a Predator Pendulum Sight and muzzy broadheads. I have used this set up for a while and have killed lots of deer with it. The Predator Sights are no longer being sold I dont think. I have herd bad things about them but have no complants my self. I will always shoot the pendulum sight with what ever kind of bow I shoot. I have alot less misses with it.
