Still Not gobbling good

Postby gtk » Sat Apr 20, 2013 7:25 am

I don't know if it was the 45 degree weather yesterday, or what, but they were not gobbling hardly at all

Had two honest to goodness stupid jakes walk within 5 feet of me and my decoy. They didn't even leave when i stood up. I have video of them love struck with my hen decoy.

This one never gobbled. He never even looked at me. I tried mouth call, pot call, cutting yelping. Nothing till I picked up my box call. Hit it twice and he came running :) not much on spurs or beard, but he will eat good

Good Job!I finally got to hunt yesterday evening and never heard a single gobble?I went one evening last week and called in 5 Jake's in a bunch and could have killed some of them which is legal here in TX. but I decided to hold out for a mature bird.I'm wondering now if I should have lowered My standards?I'm off work tomorrow and will try again in the AM.
